The Line Up

With lashes having been put on the backburner this season in favour of a new pared-down beauty aesthetic that seems to be emerging, liner has stepped-up in importance as being the key tool to define eyes. Kohl pencil-rimmed waterlines were seen at both Gucci and Blumarine in Milan. The difference? Sexy and smudged by Pat McGrath at Gucci and intense and feline in shape at Blumarine by Charlotte Tilbury - she who is is seldom, nay never, seen without liner herself. McGrath also favoured flicks of liquid liner at both Italian designer power-houses Versace and Dolce&Gabbana for definition that is more ladylike and well-groomed. Over to Linda Cantello, who pushed boundaries at Giorigo Armani in both her chosen colour palette and positioning of her futuristic and aerodynamic liner - it began as bright pink in the inner corner and morphed into grey, contouring the crease line just below the brows. With many a statement lip often celebrating the arrival of the autumn/winter season, carefully defined eyes are quickly taking centre stage.
