Shah Rukh tweets for hockey players

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan aka Chak De India's Kabir Khan feels awful for Indian hockey players revolting against the establishment for their unpaid dues and has tweeted his disgust at the latest crisis to rock the national sport.

Khan, widely praised for bringing the pathetic state of Indian hockey into limelight with his portrayal of a disgraced player who goes on to become a celebrated coach in the 2007 blockbuster 'Chak De India', supported the revolting players in his latest tweet.

"(I) feel awful for the Indian hockey team. To play for the country...national sport and have to ask for salary and we complain we don't win gold (medals)," Khan, who himself was a hockey player before becoming an actor, said on his 'Twitter' page.

Julianne Moore wants to do more comedy

Julianne Moore wants to do more comedy

Hollywood actress Julianne Moore, who has done serious roles in films like Savage Grace and Hannibal, wants to show some "variety in her acting" by doing more comedy roles.

The 49-year-old actress says she would love to tackle a movie similar to the Cameron Diaz-starring There's Something About Mary, the Telegraph reported.

"I though Cameron Diaz was great in that movie. I really enjoy watching all that kind of stuff. Really you want to have variety as an actor. If you spend your career doing one thing solidly, people get burned out," the actress said.

"I like any kind of situational comedy. It breaks my heart that I'm not going to be in it."

But Moore is not interested in doing theatre because of her commitments as a mother. She has two children-- Caleb, 12 and Liv, seven.

"It's very difficult to do when you have kids because the hours are fairly extreme. I did find it particularly difficult to do Broadway. It was not my favourite way to perform. When I do theatre I like it to be smaller, I like the audience to be closer, I like it to be less presentational," she said.

Sachin Tenduulkar breaks world record

Sachin Tenduulkar breaks world record ...

India’s Little Master, Sachin Tendulkar was in full form and made the bowlers scratch their heads when he knocked a double century in the ODI.

He broke the record of 194 runs in the 46th over itself, but millions of fans were waiting to see Sachin strike 200 and surely he did not disappoint them.

In the final over he made 200 and set a world record of double century in ODI. Some years ago, Sachin struggled with injury and was not to the best of his performance, but he did make a comeback and proved himself to the world.

Sachin made India proud !!

Sachin Tendulkar: Living legend of cricket!

Living legend of cricket! Sachin Tendulkar, the one of the most successful batsman in the world of cricket with lots of world records in his kitty has recently made the new record of making highest run in an ODI.

He broke the record of Pakistani batsman Saeed Anwaw (194) by hitting two centuries and remained unbeaten in the second ODI against SA.

Anwar in his reaction over Sachin’s achievement said,”If any person deserved to do better than me it was Tendulkar. I am happy for him, there are no real regrets.”

“Come on Sachin my friend get your 200. World record to please! You deserve it… Nervous for my good friend Sachin everything crossed for you mate… Glad I’m not bowling to him today ha ha ha,” Shane Warne tweets as he nears the double-century.

“Better than Brian Lara and Ricky Ponting, the other two great players of my era. Better than Sir Viv Richards, Sunil Gavaskar and Allan Border. And I would even say better than Sir Don Bradman himself,” reacted Nasser Hussain.

Sachin Tendulkar, Indian Cricket fans

Sachin Tendulkar, Indian Cricket fans

It was always something that bothered me. The highest score of Sachin Tendulkar in test matches came against Bangladesh and the master does not have a triple hundred in his resume. It pained even more to remember that the highest score in one dayers belonged to Saeed Anwar who made 194 against India in the Independence Cup.
So when Tendulkar became the first person to score 200 in one dayers in the ongoing series between India and South Africa, I like millions of Indian cricket fans felt redeemed. That it came against one of the stronger teams made this latest feat of Sachin even more special. It is hard to imagine any other batsman going that far, but even when the feat is repeated or exceeded, the record books shall always show the name of Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar as the first man to climb to this mark. Sometime back, Sachin made a 150 plus score against Australia and still India finished on the losing side. That innings, in my humble opinion should be rated as one of the best of the master. Probably, an Indian win would have kept that innings in our memories. Let us not forget the back to back hundreds made in Sharjah. There is another innings that can match this latest knock of Sachin-the 175 not out of Kapil Dev in the Prudential World Cup of 1983. When half of the side was back in the pavilion and the days when 100s were not common in the one dayers, Kapil showed the way.Of course, there was no one to record that innings for posterity, unlike the 200 of Sachin that surely will be viewed many times even in future. Just as Sachin was being written off as a matchwinner, he managed to set a benchmark that may become one of the most long standing records in the history of cricket.

Fear prompts bobsledders to quit Olympics

Edwin van Calker's sled crashed in the first training heat of the men's two-man bobsled event.
Edwin van Calker's sled crashed in the first training heat of the men's two-man bobsled event.

De la Hunty pinned some of the blame on Arnold's wife, saying that she had been worried about her husband's safety ever since Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili had crashed and died on the same track during the first day of the games."I have to look after my boys and can't close my eyes to that," he told reporters. "For me, it's not about performing. It's about surviving."

It was a split decision among the team to quit the games, said de la Hunty, who talked about how he told his driver he was making a choice he would regret forever.

"I've told him that to his face,"de la Hunty said, "but as a coach I have to support it because I'm responsible for him sending his team down the track in the right frame of mind."

For Timothy Beck, who wanted to continue, it was a heart-wrenching outcome to his last Olympics.

The man who carried the Dutch flag in the opening ceremonies said there was no tension on the team, but he wasn't the one looking out for three teammates.

"If you ask me if I want to slide I'd say, 'Yes'. But I don't have to steer; I just get in the back and go down. I don't have the responsibility," said Beck.

But he also said he was upset that he'd come to his third Olympics and would not get a chance to compete.

"This was my last chance to do something special," said the 33-year-old, who competed in the 2002 Winter Olympics and the 2004 Summer Olympics on the track team.

Jansma said he was frustrated because he wanted to show the world the progress the Netherlands has made in bobsled, but safety was paramount.

Arnold van Calker, the fourth member of the team, supported his brother's decision, pointing to the difference in the size of the two- and four-man sleds. The two-man sled is smaller and easier to control. Arnold van Calker, who had his doubts about the safety of the track, worried his brother had lost his nerve and wouldn't be able to steer the big sled through turns 11, 12 and 13.

Not even changes to the track on Tuesday could help reassure the brothers.

"It was a lot better, but for us it was maybe too late," Arnold van Calker said.

"When Arnold is scared and upset, obviously it has influence," he said.

But Arnold van Calker said the death had no influence, and Edwin van Calker agreed that the track was not to blame for his decision.

"It's a challenging and exciting track. You have to deal with it as a pilot. That comes with the job. Sometimes you deal with it less good," he said. "It's nothing to do with the track, just my lack of confidence at the moment."

Competition in the four-man competition starts Friday with the medals decided on Saturday after the last of four runs.

Guy Harvey jewelry is gaining popularity

Guy Harvey’s famous marine wildlife artwork is now seen being worn not only by fishermen, but by men and women, college students, teens and even young kids. And most recently Guy Harvey’s artwork is showing up as fine jewelry on beautiful swimsuit models like Brooklyn Decker and Anne V in the recently released 2010 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

“It was like walking up to the plate in the world series and hitting the ball out of the park at first bat,” said Jim Fortescue, owner of Nautora, the official licensee and manufacturer of Guy Harvey Jewelry. “I couldn’t possibly envision a better promotional opportunity than on the pages of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue for our nautical jewelry line.”

Just a few years ago, the primary place you might see Guy Harvey’s artwork outside of a picture frame, was on fishing t shirts worn by salt water fishermen. But that has changed as evidenced not only by the Sports Illustrated swimsuit models, but by the millions of dollars in Guy Harvey clothing being sold through retailers across the U.S. and online to a wide variety of people of all ages.

“Guy Harvey clothing, jewelry, and other licensed products are really striking a chord with a broad cross section of people across the country,” said Bill Shedd, owner of AFTCO Bluewater, the licensee for Guy Harvey apparel and operator of the newly launched official online store GuyHarveySportswear.com. “We have watched long lines of people of all ages wrapping around the block, waiting for an autograph at Guy Harvey’s signing events...Moms with 10 year old sons, Dads with 17 year old daughters, and college students both male and female,” Shedd continued.
