Sonam Kapoor apologises to Shobhaa De

Mumbai: Shobhaa De did not like Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor’s recent release and she made sure that she spoke her heart out.

This, however, did not go down too well with the film-maker Punit Malhotra who on Twitter posted remarks saying the acclaimed author wasn’t getting too much action and because of this she was venting out her angst on his movie.

This tirade against Shobhaa also saw Sonam get drawn into it as she was evidently upset that Shobhaa was ripping apart a film that has given her the biggest box office success to date.

What followed were a series of remarks and counter remarks. But the latest twist to the tale is that Sonam has publicly apologised to the author.

“Mrs De I owe you an apology for getting personal. I’m ashamed for my momentary lapse in judgement. And apologetic. Every writer and journalist and audience is entitled to their opinion and I respect that,” she wrote on Twitter.

Sources close to the actor reveals, “It takes guts to apologise on a public platform and Sonam has been getting a lot of adulation for her act. It was all heat of the moment. Sonam didn’t mean to get personal with Shobhaa. She is someone who loves language and literature and she holds Shobhaa in high esteem. Moreover, Shobhaa is older to her and she feels she hasn’t been respectful towards her. She wants to undo the bad blood that this fiasco has already caused. Thus, the apology. This matter will be put to rest now for sure.”

Dekh Bhai Dekh who's making debut with PAATHSHAALA!

Remember that cute little kid playing Shekhar Suman's son in the 90's hit comedy show 'Dekh Bhai Dekh'? That was Sunny Singh, who is now playing a teenaged boy in Eros International and Paperdoll Entertainment's PAATHSHAALA.
Recent media reports claimed that Sunny Singh was having problems with Shahid Kapoor stealing his lime light in their forthcoming movie PAATHSHAALA directed by Milind Ukey. However, the newbie who is in fact a huge fan of Shahid says there is no such issue and he has no qualms about his role in the film.

Bipasha Basu's PANKH - A Cinematic Artistry!!

One would expect Sanjay Gupta and White Feathers Films to churn out films with lots of action, slick direction and hi-tech cinematography.
White Feather Arthouse Films' PANKH does not fall in the same category. The film, a cinematic artistry, directed by Sudipto Chattopadhyay and starring Maradona Rebello, Bipasha Basu and Lilette Dubey, is quite nothing like Sanjay Gupta has made before or even any other Bollywood film.

Though it portrays the grim reality of child artistes in Bollywood, it does so in a way that no one has done before. Other than the exploitation, it talks of the psychological repercussions of a boy playing a girl artiste and vice versa. Even though mostly shot in the confines of a house or studio, the film explores the gamut of the pysche of the protagonist. Well, this is also most critics are saying about the film.

It makes the audience uncomfortable and grips them. Too bold in parts, even crude (just like the industry tends to be), Pankh is grabbing attention and decent reviews.

Debutant Maradona Rebello (who plays the protagonist, the wannabe actor Jerry) is being appreciated for his performance, and Bipasha as his alter ego Nandini with whom he shares a blow hot blow cold relation in the film, has garnered praise not only for her stunning looks but also her performance. That's quite a promising beginning for White Feathers Arthouse Films.

Despite IPL, Riteish and Milap confident of JKSAH success

One would have expected that as IPL moves into the later stages, film makers would feel shy of bringing their films right at the peak of the season. However, that is not really the case to be with quite a few major films vying for attention on 9th April. JAANE KAHAN SE AAYI HAI and PRINCE release on the same day and while TIPS machinery is known for going all out when it comes to promoting their films, JAANE KAHAN SE AAYI HAI looks quite safe, primarily due to its romcom flavour.
Says Riteish Deshmukh, the leading man of JAANE KAHAN SE AAYI HAI, "IPL is a yearly event and I am sure loads of people will watch it. But then there are more than 50-55 matches so people are bound to choose the ones that they want to see. There are loads of people who want to see movies too and invariably it has been observed that good films will pull people to theatres. I watch matches but I want to watch movies too."

Adds Milap Zaveri, the young man who makes his debut as a director with JAANE KAHAN SE AAYI HAI, "I am confident of my film because it is the first of its kind love story between a boy from Earth (Riteish) and a girl from Venus (Jacqueline). There is loads of comedy, music and romance! Also 9th April is lucky for Riteish and me as our first huge hit MASTI (which was written by Milap) had released on 9th April in 2004."

He also comes up with the final word of conclusion by repeating the oft stated example of BIWI NO. 1 doing exceedingly well right in the middle of World Cup Cricket tournament. "The important thing is to make an entertaining film. Years ago, BIWI NO. 1 came during the World Cup and it was a super hit. Similarly JANNAT too was a super hit during the first IPL. I always feel that a good film can do well during any tournament, be it IPL or anything else. Watch out for JAANE KAHAN SE AAYI HAI; it will end up repeating history all over again."

Dia Mirza: I hold no grudges

HUM TUM AUR GHOST hasn't worked at the box office but one can't take the spunk out of Dia Mirza. Though many believe that after working in more than three dozen films, Dia hasn't quite found her due, she faces the situation quite bravely sans any sense of regret.
"Let me put it this way that when I look back at my life, I have got much more than what I had expected out of it. I lead a very comfortable life and thank God for all the opportunities that He has given me. As for the work that I have done then I don't make bones about the fact that I have done several films for friends. I think it is sometimes important that since God has given you a place from where you can do a good deed, you should never regret any act of yours", she flashes that million dollar smile.

She continues to maintain her stand around not holding grudges for any of her colleagues, counterparts of friends.

"I guess there are very few of us who are enjoying a good standing and respect in the industry in spite of some failures. We have seen that so many times in the industry. Having said that, I have personally evidenced examples where pure talent has been completely sidelined in favour of something which promises box office returns. Now that's disappointing for sure", says Dia.

However, after spending close to a decade in the industry, she is quite aware of the ground reality. "In the end all this goodwill boils down to - 'Oh, she is such a good girl. I really love her'. But when it comes to casting, unless you have a super hit behind you, nothing else matters. I am very acutely aware that one Friday changes everything", she concludes.

"That's because compared to Deepika and Lara, I am the real short one", laughs Jiah, "While both of them were super confident, I was worried if I would look really proper. See, Lara has been a Miss Universe and has been a professional in the glamour world for long. She is pretty mature about things like these. As for Deepika, she has been a model and worn bikini in the past. Both these females boast of such huge confidence which is remarkable. This is the reason why there was no competition at all. How could I even think that I would be competing with them?"

And the meet ended with Akon singing few lines from his famous song, Beautiful on Kareena's request. And the superstar while pretending to hold a guitar, sang, "I always wanted to be a rock star..."

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who is blessed with a good figure, says she does not believe in being size zero as the Indian body type is not meant for it.

"Correct me if I am wrong, but I personally feel that the Indian body type is not cut out to be size zero. I am not size zero and I don't believe in that either," said Deepika. "I believe that it's nice to be little full and have a nice shape," she added.

The Bollywood actress was the show stopper for designer duo Shantanu & Nikhil's show at the Lakme Fashion Week here Sunday. According to Deepika, an actress gets a role for her performance and not the body type.

"In the (film) industry, body size doesn't matter. What matters is how much an actor contributes through his performance and not his body size," explained Deepika.

"It is important that every person should wear clothes that go with their body - the cut, the fabric make a lot of difference," she added.

Flip it on and you know why. The movements of skaters Meryl Davis and Charlie White are Bollywood tango, and the music is from “Devdas”. Anju Rajendra, who combines Bollywood music and dance with exercise at her BollyFit studio in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is credited with showing them the Indian dance style and suggesting the music. Couldn't have chosen a better tune to enlarge the fan base, Meryl told an interviewer.

Bollywood music has broken the ice barrier. But, that's just one more platform for this brand that went international when Raj Kapoor doffed his lal topi to Russians. Since then, Bollywood's original and re-mixed — but readily identifiable — strains have been heard everywhere, from a club in Stanford to the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. Jai Ho!

This shot, as we are further told, is a prelude to the action and song sequences, while the rest of the film is shot in the quaint town of Ooty, the lovely songs in the film are shot in mystic Turkey. With a striking star cast and picturesque sites, it's definitely one film worth the watch.
