But, instead of grumbling with the rest of us, North London father-and-daughter duo Howard and Laura Richenberg decided to take action and the result is My987Wardrobe.com, an online shopping site with a twist.

All the clothes cost just £9.87, including the key fashion pieces of the season - be it a well-cut grey blazer, maxi dress or skinny jeans - which you'd be hard pushed to find for less than £30 elsewhere.

Laura, 27, a stylist and former fashion buyer at Topshop, says: 'We wanted to create a high-end shopping experience, but on a budget.'

And they must be doing something right - the site launched only three weeks ago, but inquiries are already flooding in.
