Mad for Plaid

Runway: Designers mixed and matched plaids, oversized it into large prints and put it into new pieces (like a matching shorts suit.)

Reality: Plaid can either be sporty or formal, depending on the print, scale and fabric. I like it best in less formal pieces: cute camp shirts, fun totes, etc. because it has the breezy look of summer. Unless you are feeling adventurous, leave the mixing and matching prints to the experts (and most of the time it looks ridiculous even when they do it.) Instead, wear your plaids with neutrals or use a bright to accentuate the color story of your plaid.
