THE NEW TEEN TITANS OF FASHION
From Style Editor Bobbie Thomas
Contrary to the effortless style many chic models portray in pictures, a lot of effort goes into producing high-end fashion spreads. If you've ever caught a behind-the-scenes look into a shoot or if you've seen the movie "The September Issue," you may have an idea of the kind of hard work I'm talking about. Now try to imagine doing that while finishing up your algebra homework and getting to bed on time! Several high school-aged fashionistas are making names for themselves in the industry, proving they have the taste and talent to possibly become the next reigning queens of the fashion scene (a la Vogue's Anna Wintour and her creative director, Grace Coddington).
After launching her own fashion blog at a mere 11, Tavi Williams (also known as the "Style Rookie") is a celebrity in her own right at just 13. She’s appeared on several magazine covers, become a muse for fashion's favorite sisters — Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte — and she now holds the title of the youngest contributor ever to Harper's Bazaar and is turning down opportunities that many (much older) fashion journalists would covet.
So the next time you are in need of a bit of style inspiration, look to the kids! After all, they are our fashion future.
