He gets to pick out beautiful clothes all day long and dress the gorgeous stars of the show. We caught up with him and quizzed him about the new Gossip Girl collection before it hits stores next week. Q: What inspired you to produce a collection with Miss Selfridge? A: We use a bit of Topshop on the show and through that I discovered Miss Selfridge in a round about way. I try to mix high and low end pieces and I think their price points and designs fit perfectly for what I try to do on Gossip Girl so they were a natural fit. Q: Where do you get your styling inspiration? A: New York City is the best inspiration for everything. Just walking down the street there are so many different looks, from the people to architecture, to the parks. I've lived here for 10 years and I still walk down the street and find something new that inspires me. Q: Do the girls have any input when it comes to dressing their characters? A: I have a really great relationship with the girls and a good dialogue. They let me do my thing but sometimes they'll see a great Chloe or Channel bag and say 'oh this is perfect for Serena.' They're a lot of fun to work with. I've been on the show since day one and helped develop the characters through their costumes. Q: What makes the fashion so special on Gossip Girl? A: When Sex and The City finished I think a fashion void was left and a longing for great fashion on television, there wasn't anything else going on. I think Gossip Girl hit a note. To see these rich New York girls and give them a fashion edge seems to have struck with audiences. You get to see great outfits of TV. Q: What make the Gossip Girl collection so wearable? A: Because they did it with bodies of different girls in mind, I think there is something for everybody as they went after the four main characters. If you want, something body con you can have a Serena dress or if you want something pretty and flowing you can have a Blair dress. Q: Do you have a favourite dress in the collection? A: The black body con Serena dress is perfect. It's really hot and great for the trends that are going on right now. Q: What is your biggest style tip? A: Underwear! Girls overlook or don't pay enough attention to bras and pants and it's really important to have the correcting fitting for both. It's a key essential to making your figure looking good. A great push-up bra will give you a great silhouette. Q: Would you like to see another Miss Selfridge Gossip Girl collection? A: I would love to see another collection. Having just discovered them I think they represent what the show is about and what I do and they're a great bunch of people to work with.
