APPRENTICE winner Stella English has quit the job she landed on the TV show saying she was just a “glorified PA”.
Sassy Stella, 31, moaned that her role with Lord Alan Sugar’s computer company Viglen was nothing like she thought it would be.
The feisty mum of two stood up to the tycoon, demanded a new position and got it – but with him still as her boss.
Last night a company spokesman confirmed the move, saying the multi-millionaire had been very impressed by her work. Sources close to Stella say she threatened to leave after feeling “unchallenged”.She has switched companies to join web-connected TV service YouView – of which Lord Sugar, 64, is non-executive chairman.
One insider revealed: “She was very disappointed and felt like a glorified PA – and told Lord Sugar exactly what she thought.
“She was not doing the kind of things you’d envisage a top-flight career girl doing.”
The company spokesman said: “Stella remains an employee of Lord Sugar and there will be no additional cost to YouView.”
Lord Sugar himself tweeted: “Stella has contributed a lot in her time at Viglen. There are exciting times ahead for YouView and I felt she was perfect to assist me on this project.”
YouView is a £200 internet and TV digibox expected to rival Freeview and Sky. The BBC has already invested around £6million in it.
Stella earned a reputation on last year’s show for her forthright views. In her audition video she admitted: “I’m extremely stubborn, but it is a strength. I am like a dog with a bone. If I want to do something, I will do it.”
