That's right, Anna Wintour is soon to be made a Magazine Hall of Fame alumnae. The award ceremony at which she will be bestowed the honor takes place on April 22.

As luck would have it (or as a well-run PR firm would), the announcement comes on the heels of both the DVD release of The September Issue as well as reports that Wintour's brainchild, Fashion's Night Out, will get its own prime-time CBS special. The show will highlight the second annual Fashion Night Out (slated for September 10, 2010), which, like its predecessor, will stage shopping and promotional events in 13 different cities to promote awareness of (and spending within) the fashion industry.

Following her appearance on the big screen for the now Oscar-nominated R.J. Cutler documentary, The September Issue, Wintour has become increasingly visible well beyond the walls of fashion's exclusive empire. So why is popular culture warming to the infamously icy editrix? One guess that's as old as Disney: everyone loves a good villain — perhaps, most of all, Wintour herself.
