While Seacrest's away... Bikini girl Julianne Hough cools off in the pool with her Rock of Ages co-star Diego Boneta

Ryan Seacrest has been in Italy attending a friend's wedding this weekend.

So while he's away buff actor Diego Boneta has been keeping his girlfriend Julianne Hough company.

The Rock of Ages co-stars cooled off together in a pool in Miami yesterday.

Julianne, 22, was fresh faced without her usual full make-up as she splashed about in the water in a purple and white snakeskin bikini.

Diego recently  told reporters of his affection for her pretty co-star.

He said: 'She's an amazing dancer, an amazing singer and an amazing person overall.

'I'm so lucky to be working with her but you know, she has an amazing boyfriend and I totally respect that. We are good friends.'

Julianne and Diego were joined in the hotel pool by her mother Mari Ann, who is visiting her daughter on the Rock of Ages set.

While his relationship with his co-star is strictly platonic, Diego has been a hit with the ladies on the beach during his stay in Miami.

The 20-year-old hung out on Saturday on the beach with a bevy of beauties.

The Mexican-born actor, who has previously starred in ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars and the telenovela Rebelde, is about to become any even bigger star.

Boneta has scored the lead role in the big-screen adaptation of Broadway's hit 1980's musical, Rock of Ages alongside Tom Cruise, Mary J. Blige and Russell Brand. 

In the film, he'll play Drew Bowie, an aspiring musician who falls for Hough's wanna-be actress, Sherrie Christian.

Director Adam Shankman is convinced that the young actor is perfect for the part. 

'To be authentic, I like to cast as close to the real age as possible and wanted someone who has all the innocence and guilelessness of Drew,' Shankman told the Hollywood Reporter, adding, 'And that's Diego.' 

He confirmed the casting on his Twitter account, writing, 'He is the perfect movie Drew. He's going to blow your minds.' 

Although his statement is bold, Shankman might be right; his two leads do have some serious chemistry.

In one scene, Hough has to wrap her legs around Boneta's waist and kiss him passionately while wearing nothing more than a bikini. 

Still, he and Hough are just friends, a fact that he wants the world to know.
