You big tweeze!

Revamp your brows to enhance your eyes and slim your face – in seconds!

THE SUPER- GROOMED BROW

Great for: Enhancing cheekbones on heart-shaped faces

To fake Angelina Jolie-style bone structure, take a cue from the catwalks with uber-groomed brows that bring out this season's heavily highlighted cheekbones.

Step 1: Apply Ardell's Painless Tweeze numbing gel, £7.50, to your brows.

Step 2: Use Mad Pluckers Shopaholic Tweezers (1), £8.17, at a 45° angle to pluck hairs out in the natural direction of growth. For your ideal shape, place a pencil vertically against your nostril - where it hovers just above the bridge of the nose is where the brow should start. Pluck above and beneath the brow, following its natural curve. The tapered end should stop just above the outer corner of your eye. For the arch, hold the pencil parallel to the outer edge of the coloured part of your iris. Where it meets your brow is where the top of your arch should be.

Step 3: Use Clinique Instant Lift for Brows (2), £12.50 - a dual-ended brow crayon and highlighter - to fill in brows and illuminate beneath them.

Brow wow! To slim a round face, use your natural arch and only pluck from beneath your brows.

THE BRUSHED-UP BROW

Great for: Helping square faces look longer

Want to slim your face? "Brushing your brows upwards creates a 'lifting' effect on your face," says Rachel Wood, celebrity make-up artist for Benefit.

Step 1: Begin by using your brow comb or an old toothbrush to brush your brows upwards in a 45° angle.

Step 2: "Choose a brow pencil that's a shade lighter than your hair so it doesn't look too heavy," says Rachel. Following the line of your brow, fill in gaps with a Jemma Kidd I-conic Eyes Brow Pencil (3), £10, using light, upward strokes.

Step 3: Lastly, use Benefit's Speed Brow Gel, £12, brushing in an upward motion to coat every hair and set your brushed-up brow firmly in place. Depending on how daring you feel, you can go heavy on the gel, separating the hairs and making the brush sweeps appear wet-look and obvious, or opt for a more subtle finish.

Brow wow! This can be a strong look - so skip the mascara and heavy eyeliner and let your brows do the talking!

THE AERODYNAMIC BROW

Great for: Adding definition to slim faces

Hone your look into something that's sleek and sexy with the new skinny, elongated brow that's hot off the Emanuel Ungaro catwalk. "A graphic brow like this is a great way to mirror the lines of your cheekbones and make them look razor sharp," says Artistry make-up artist Laura Mead.

Step 1: "First, use the brush end of the Artistry Brow Define liner (4), £9.40, to flatten out and sweep your brow hairs in a sideways direction from your nose out towards your temple," says Laura.

Step 2: "Use the pen end of the brow liner to make tiny, hair-like brush strokes. Press harder to create darker lines near the nose then gradually make your brush strokes lighter and lighter. Extend your brow just beyond the outside corner of your eye and end with a few feathery strokes right out on the temple."

Step 3: For extra oomph, try adding a drop of Face Atelier's Transforming Gel (5), £16, over the top of your eyebrows - it'll emulsify the brow to help create a strong, graphic line.

Brow wow! Avoid unsightly, post-plucking breakouts by splashing some neat alcohol over the edges of your tweezers to ensure they're free from bacteria.

THE FULL BROW

Great for: Making older faces look younger

Step way back to the '80s ladies, because big brows are back. "Keira Knightley is the new brow muse," says Mac senior artist Neil Young. Our brows thin naturally as we age, so a fuller brow makes you look younger.

Step 1: To give your brows a natural boost, apply a coat of The Powder Lounge's revolutionary new Browlicious serum, £18 - its collagen-enriched formula encourages hair growth.

Step 2: "Using Mac's new semi-permanent Penultimate Brow Marker, £13.50, that lasts up to a couple of days, paint individual hairs in, following the natural growth direction and shape of your eyebrows using quick, light, upward strokes," says Neil. For a day look, use the marker to fill in sparser areas of hair, but go all out - as full and dark as you dare - for nights on the town.

Step 3: Finish by applying a coppery eyeshadow such as L'Oréal Chrome Intensity shadow in Cocoa Mania (6), £4.99, along your upper and lower lash lines.

Brow wow! Sweep castor oil on to your brows each night - it's an old remedy for rescuing sparse hair.
