Quarterback Jake Delhomme has been cut by the Carolina Panthers just over a year after being handed a whopping $42.5 million deal. Delhomme will still receive over $12 million of guaranteed money from the Panthers from the deal they handed him despite his six turnovers in a shocking performance in their play-off defeat to Arizona in 2008. The Panthers then kept faith in Delhomme, but the 35-year-old then went on to have his worst NFL season with 18 interceptions in 11 games before a broken finger ended his miserable campaign. Matt Moore took charge under centre and the Panthers have seen enough to trust him with the starting job next season, as despite Michael Vick being keen to join Carolina the team seemingly have little interest. Delhomme owns almost all the passing records in Carolina and led the team to the Super Bowl in 2004, where he threw four TDs, in his first season with the team, and later to an NFC Championship game in 2006.Panthers cut Delhomme
