Tess Daly's disastrous Dublin book signing as less than 30 people show up

She would have been hoping for queues out the door and hundreds of fans raring to get their hands on a signed copy of her book.

Unfortunately, Tess Daly had to settle for a turnout of less than 30 people at a signing for The Baby Diaries: Memories, Milestones And Misadventures.

The Strictly presenter was no doubt mortified by the dire numbers - but ever the professional ensured her smile was firmly in place as she met the public.

After presenting a slot on Sport Relief in London, mother of two Tess flew to Dublin today for her public appearance at an Easons book shop in Dublin.

An onlooker told MailOnline: 'There were probably about 30 people in the shop, and around 25 of them queuing to get their book signed.

Sparkler: The presenter had her wedding ring firmly in place

'Tess was supposed to arrive by 12noon, but held out an extra 15 minutes to see if anyone else would turn up.

'Once she arrived she was really good spent some time chatting with everyone who came.

'But she was then whisked straight back to the airport and went home.'

Tess, 40, wore a pink skirt, white top and military-themed grey jacket for the occasion and was proudly wearing her wedding ring from husband Vernon Kay.

News of his sex texting scandals emerged just a week after Tess's book was released in February - forcing her to pull out of a string of promotional TV appearances.

His lewd messages to five women, including glamour model Rhian Sugden, was squarely blamed for causing his wife's book - about motherhood and family life - to flop.

Just three weeks after publication it was languishing at number 351 in online giant Amazon's bestsellers list.

The Strictly host signs a copy of her book for the family, adressing it to 'Tess Daly'

Since emerging back into public life, Tess, who has been married to Kay for six years and has two children - Phoebe, five, and Amber, nine months - has managed to boost her chart position somewhat.

She is now at number 21 in the WH Smiths hardback bestsellers list having plugged the book on shows including This Morning and the One Show.

Something that did make her smile today, however, was meeting a two-year-old Irish girl at the book shop who was also called Tess Daly.

The youngster posed for pictures with the TV host and Tess then signed a book for her. The toddler's mother Joanne even brought her daughter's passport along as proof.
