Avril Lavigne is a skater girl with a soft side as she frolics in pretty frilly bikini on her French party boat

Avril Lavigne is clearly determined to relax and have a good time on her holiday in France. 

The Canadian singer was clearly enjoying herself as she returned to her St Tropez party yacht today wearing another stunning bikini. 

Clutching a drink, the 26-year-old showed off her enviably toned figure in a blue and white checked two piece.

At one point, she sported a large white floppy hat to shade herself from the sun, and handed a drink to friends.

 

It's the second day the star was spotted partying on the French yacht - yesterday she was seen in a bright strapless bikini diving into the water.

It's clearly a girly style holiday for the star - as there has been no sign of her boyfriend Brody Jenner, stepbrother to Kim, Khoe and Kourtney Kardashian.

Luckily today, Avril managed to avoid yesterday's wardrobe malfunctions which saw her bikini bottoms slipping down as she hauled herself out of the sea. 

However, she later preserved her modesty with a white sarong which she wrapped around her bikini bottoms. 

She also waved a cigarette around and danced on the luxury boat, which was adorned with an American flag.

Perhaps the star is taking time to relax before recording her next album - the sequel to this year's Goodbye Lullaby.

'I already have eight songs,' she recently told her Avril Lavigne fansite. 'I would like to release the fifth album really quick.'

She added: 'This record was more mellow, and the next one will be pop and more fun again. I already have a song that I know is going to be a single, I just need to re-record it!'

Avril has been dating Brody since February last year following her split with husband Deryck Whibley, a guitarist with rock band Sum 41.

The couple were married for just over three years before announcing their split in September 2009 with their divorce finalised in November 2010.

The singer says writing songs about the emotional experience helped her through the split along with confiding in her girlfriends. 

'They were there for me,' she told TV Week magazine. 'It did me really good to be able to tell them everything.

'It helped me come to terms with the things that had happened.'

She added: 'It also helped put my feelings down in paper. It was comforting. It's always been like that for me. 

'When I was a kid, I had my diary to confide everything in. Now I write songs. It really was a form of healing.'

Avril has been dating Brody since February last year with the singer even having his name tattooed on her ribs, 

Brody also has her name tattooed on his arm.
