Daredevils end losing streak

Warner hits quick-fire 33 before Jadhav takes centre stage

Daredevils end losing streak

Warner: Breezy 33

The Delhi Daredevils ended a run of three straight losses with a 17-run triumph over the high-flying Bangalore Royal Challengers.

Kedar Jadhav hit an unbeaten 50 to help the Daredevils make 183-4 from their 20 overs against the Indian Premier League pace-setters.

Bangalore looked well-placed in their run chase thanks to an opening stand of 71 - only to lose a plethora of wickets in a hurry.

Despite a blistering knock of 38 from Virat Kohli, the hosts finished on 166-9 to fall to their first defeat of the year at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The positive result was a timely boost for the Daredevils, who had kicked off the 2010 campaign with back-to-back victories before suffering a slump.

David Warner gave them a perfect start to their innings with 33 from just 14 deliveries, the Australian smashing three fours and two sixes before Dale Steyn eventually ended their fiery battle by getting him caught out.

    Early onslaught

Virender Sehwag (12) was a bystander at the other end as his opening partner's early onslaught laid the plaform for a highly competitive total.

AB de Villiers kept the scoreboard ticking over in the middle overs with 45 from 35 before Jadhav provided some late fireworks.

The 24-year-old needed just 29 deliveries to reach his half-century, hitting five fours and two sixes - one a superb strike off Kallis straight down the ground -as he and Andrew McDonald (18 not out) added 49 runs in the closing overs.

Having chased down 204 earlier in the tournament against the Kings XI Punjab, the Royal Challengers would have been confident of victory when Jacques Kallis (27) and Manish Pandey (39) made solid progress.

However the pair perished during a spell where four Bangalore wickets went down for 19 runs, the others to fall being Rahul Dravid and Robin Uthappa.

Eoin Morgan briefly threatened to lead a fightback with a breezy 17 before becoming the second of three run outs in the home side's innings. Although Kohli continued to swing hard - thrashing four fours and clearing the ropes on one occasion - he failed to get any support from the lower order.
