Mumbai Indians completed their highest ever run chase to inflict a third consecutive Indian Premier League defeat on the Chennai Super Kings.

Indians skipper Sachin Tendulkar ancohored his side's pursuit of 181 at the Brabourne Stadium with 71 off 52 balls.

Tendulkar's opening partner, Shikhar Dhiwan, had got the innings off to a flying start, hitting five fours and three sixes in his 56 off 34 deliveries during a 92-run stand in 8.5 overs.

Tendulkar was fifth out with nine still required from 10 balls but Dwayne Bravo (11no) finished off a five-wicket success with an over to spare.

Earlier, Suresh Raina and Subramaniam Badrinath had shared an unbroken third-wicket stand of 142 as the Super Kings piled up 180-2 after being asked to bat.

Openers Parthiv Patel (8) and Matthew Hayden (20) departed inside five overs but India internationals Raina and Badrinath took control thereafter.

Raina finished with 83 from 52 balls, including seven fours and three sixes, while Badrinath's contribution was 55 off 45 with six fours.

The victory moves the Indians top of the IPL standings on net run-rate above the Bangalore Royal Challengers, who they have a game in hand over.
