Pakistan pick punished trio

Afridi: Named in 15-man squad

Shahid Afridi has been included in Pakistan's squad for the ICC World Twenty20 - but the all-rounder has not been named as captain.

Afridi was fined by the Pakistan Cricket Board on Wednesday for appearing to bite the ball during the one-day series against Australia.

Brothers Kamran and Umar Akmal, who were also hit in the pocket, as well as being put on probation for six months for discipline violations during the team's disastrous tour Down Under, are also in a 15-man party.

Shoaib Malik and Rana Naved were not considered by the selectors after being handed one-year suspensions.

Former captain Malik led his country in their last Twenty20 games, a two-match series against England in Dubai.

Batsmen Misbah-ul Haq and Salman Butt have both been handed recalls, while the PCB's selection committee has also named five reserves.

Sohail Tanvir was not considered after recently undergoing knee surgery in Australia, ruling him out of action for four months.

Pakistan are alongside Australia and Bangladesh in Group A for the Twenty20 tournament in the Caribbean next month.

Squad: Salman Butt, Mohammad Hafeez, Khalid Latif, Misbah-ul-Haq, Fawad Alam, Umar Akmal, Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq, Yasir Arafat, Hammad Azam, Kamran Akmal, Umar Gul, Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Aamer, Saeed Ajmal.
Reserves: Shahzaib Hasan, Mohammad Sami, Raza Hasan, Naveed Yasin, Sarfraz Ahmed.
