ROMA KEEP EYE ON GALLAS SITUATION

Ranieri still admires defender

GALLAS: A target for Roma
GALLAS: A target for Roma

The French defender is out of contract in the summer and could be available for nothing under the Bosman Ruling.

Arsene Wenger wants to keep the Gunners stalwart and is even ready to abandon his usual policy of only offering one-year extensions to players over 32.

A two-year deal is being discussed but there is the fear that any request for a drop in wages will not go down too well with Gallas.

Roma coach Claudio Ranieri worked with the 32-year-old and signed him for Chelsea during his Marseille days.

"William has done well at Chelsea and Arsenal," said the Italian boss.

"All the top players would do well at Roma."

It is likely Gallas will not be short of options if he is unable to agree terms with the Gunners and a move to Serie A could appeal at this stage of his career.
