Derek Boogaard, NHL Player, Found Dead

Derek Boogaard, who played for the NHL's New York Rangers, has died. He was 28.
Boogaard played in 45 games for the Rangers before missing the bulk of the second half of this season after suffering a concussion and shoulder injury.
Derek had the reputation of being an enforcer on the ice and one of the league's toughest players. He was found dead in his apartment in Minneapolis.

It's too early to know if his hockey injuries had anything to do with his death. The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine cause of death.
Rangers president and general manager Glen Sather said in a statement:
"Derek was an extremely kind and caring individual. He was a very thoughtful person, who will be dearly missed by all those who knew him."
"We extend our deepest sympathies to his family, friends and teammates."
